About ChartPaste

A free chart maker for people who already have the numbers — and just need the chart to be right.

What it is

ChartPaste turns a pasted table into one of 20 chart types and lets you download it as a PNG image or as an Excel file with a chart you can keep editing. You copy from Excel, Google Sheets or CSV, paste into the page, and the chart appears immediately.

The tool also works in reverse: pick a chart type first, get a filled-in example table, and edit it — useful when you know what the chart should look like but not how to lay the data out.

Why it exists

Making a chart from a spreadsheet range should not require an account, an upload, or a subscription. And it should not cost you the ability to edit the result later.

Three things are deliberately different here:

  • No sign-up. There is no account, no email gate and no paywall in front of the download button.
  • Your data stays in your browser. Parsing, chart drawing and file generation all happen on your device. The table you paste is never uploaded to a server and is gone when you close the tab.
  • The Excel export is a real chart. The .xlsx file contains a native chart, not an image — so it can be resized, restyled and updated when the numbers change.

How the chart is chosen

When you paste data, ChartPaste looks at its shape — how many columns are numeric, whether the values share a scale, whether the last column looks like a total — and suggests a chart type. The suggestion is only a default. You can always pick any chart type yourself; the tool never prevents a choice it considers “unsuitable”.

If you want to understand the reasoning behind the suggestions, the guides cover chart choice, data layout and common mistakes in plain language.

Colour and accessibility

Charts are drawn with a small set of palettes chosen for colour-blindness separation and readability, and the heatmap uses a blue-to-red scale where blue means low and red means high. Text on coloured cells is chosen per cell so it stays readable. These are not decoration decisions — a chart that cannot be read is not a chart.

Who runs it

ChartPaste is an independent project. It is free to use and is supported by advertising. Questions, bug reports and feature requests are welcome at [email protected], or through the contact page.

What it does not do

  • It does not store your data or your charts.
  • It does not require an account or collect your email to download.
  • It does not claim a chart is “correct” — automated choices can be wrong, so check the chart before you publish it.
